I'm just trying to see if I can post to this blog. Hopefully I can!

#22 and #23 THE END!!!

Checked out Overdrive. Our library doesn't have an account so I didn't seem to be able to establish one for myself. Project Gutenberg was fun to browse. For older, obscure and out of print titles that a patron would need this is a great resource!

Well this was quite an experience for this digital immigrant! Was a bit stressed to learn new technology and be creative simultaneously. But without this project I wouldn’t have taken the initiative to check out these interesting technologies. I would participate in another similar learning program. I saw an article in PC Magazine on Web 2.0 and I knew what they were talking about.

Listened to a couple of podcasts and registered on my bloglines account for "The Book Report", an online book club and "Bike Tourist" for folks who like to take bicycle vacations.

Definitely enjoyed checking out You Tube. Here's a favorite corgi video of mine:

Today I checked out Google docs & spreadsheets. This is a new and interesting application. It didn't seem as foreign to me as some of the other "things" we've been doing. Enjoyed exploring some of the Web 2.0 awards sites: Lulu - a way to publish your book. Yelp - excellent for planning a trip. And OneSentence - People's thoughts boiled down to one sentence!

After taking a look at most of these interesting wikis - I especially found the SJCPL subject guides to be of practical value to library patrons. It would be great to put a connection between the library catalog and patron and staff reviews of the items. Before going to the 2007 Computers in Libraries conference in Arlington, VA I availed myself of their conference wiki which had some helpful advice on how to negotiate the Washington Metro. It’s also very helpful to find out in advance which restaurants or hotels to avoid in the big city!!

Looked at Del.icio.us using the PLCMCL2 account. Stumbled on a site which will (maybe) help resize my photos - http://resizr.lord-lance.com/. Tagging would certainly be important to keep track of all this information. Technorati was duly checked out as well.
